START / CLUB /
Since the beginning of the Club, solidarity and responsibility have always been in the DNA of our founding principles. This is why we have worked to keep promoting this line and structure it as one of the foundations of our project.
During the last years, we have been very active in collaborations with various associations and NGOs, as well as with the involvement with our territory supporting children, young people and adults in Les 3 Viles with different actions in our club.
That’s the reason why El Balís, with its will to continue collaborating with the environment and understanding that we have to develop a significant activity in the field of CSR as an organization of the XXI century, the club is committed to carry out actions in 4 axes:
We are excited to be able to share with you a project that, because of its importance, commitment and solidarity, we have decided to start up at our club.
Now we invite you to continue walking together in this same direction and we fell as ours a project promoted by Sant Joan de Déu to build in Barcelona the SJD Pediatric Cancer Centre, the largest childhood oncology centre in Europe and one of the most important in the world.
An ambitious but achievable project if we all join it, a local but world-wide project at the same time, a project that bets for the future of the youngest ones so that an illness does not leave them without opportunities, a project financed between all and for all.
Only some data to share the size and scope of the SJD Pediatric Cancer Centre:
From El Balís we have decided to join this great project, #paralosvalientes, and support it from two main initiatives:
Sponsor one of the 30 medical boxes of the new SJD Pediatric Cancer Centre in Barcelona
To meet our challenge we need to raise € 50,000 and to do so, we will work in a series of solidarity actions throughout this year in which we will ask for your collaboration.
Children’s day activities at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona.
During the months from June to September, mainly, we will perform nautical and beach activities to offer a different and funny day for the patients of Sant Joan de Déu. During the summer of 2017 we already carried out the first activity in the new project. Six patients experienced a rewarding experience aboard a sailboat.
Two initiatives that we trust can also be yours and that will flag our commitment with children, society and the future. We have to work to help children with cancer have the right to be more investigated and that their treatments become increasingly effective and with the least possible consequences. They are children, and they should have all the essentials to build their future.
“I want to transmit my emotion, as well as that of the whole Board and the professional team of El Balís for this great project that fights every day for children to remain children. We encourage you to participate and contribute doing your part to this enthusiastic challenge which deserves all our support and solidarity, and which will undoubtedly enlarge El Balís as a club.” Alejo Reyes.
Currently, El Balís collaborates with the Maresme Foundation through its Special Employment Centre, whose purpose is the creation and maintenance of a work place for people with intellectual disabilities in Maresme region. Since 2017, the gardening and cleaning services of the port are developed by a team from the Maresme Foundation.
Other programmes related to training and employment are aimed at the generation of employment for young people, a sector of our population that has been greatly affected by the levels of unemployment. The objective is to address groups with difficulties in getting a workplace, by collaborating with public entities through training or recruitment programmes.
Work for the reduction of waste generated, as well as education with groups regarding the preservation of the environment through talks, cleaning and awareness actions.
Throughout our recent history, this has been an axis that has marked the actions in the port, from the prevention of fires to the change of the port lighting.
Pay attention to groups with physical or mental disabilities as well as to social integration and lack of resources, offering a framework of leisure and training in the sports practice that helps to improve personal development in a nautical environment.
The day activities for children of San Joan de Déu, the realization of the Vela.cat programme called “Infants i Veles” (Children and Sailboats) or the scholarship for sports activities in the school environment are some of the current programmes.
